Vivian and Gabi Exchange Threats, Culminating In a Shocking Move — and Poor Maggie’s Thrown Out *Again*!

Gabi enters her and Stefan’s room in her robe, only for Vivian to slink in before she can change and criticize her clothing choice. Vivian informs Gabi that now that she’s kicked out of Titan, she’s sticking by her son’s side. At DiMera. “There, there Gabriela, no need to worry your pretty little head about business. Now that mother’s here, you can just lie in bed and eat bonbons, just like the Real Housewives of Salem.”
Gabi makes clear that Vivian’s not taking her job and she’s not getting comfortable in their home. Viv tells she’s not leaving the house “unless it’s feet first.” She then threatens Gabi to stay out of her way.

Stefan’s downstairs, casually reading about Dimitri’s shooting when Jada walks in with a question: “Why did you lie to me?” Stefan retells his bogus story and Jada tells him she found Kristen’s prints on the gun, along with Dimitri. But the bullet that shot Dimitri doesn’t match that gun, so it doesn’t matter. Stefan plays dumb and Jada tells him she will get to the bottom of it and she won’t hesitate to lock him up.

But it’s over quicker than ever when Gabi rushes down and tells Jada Vivian shot Dimitri, much to Stefan’s dismay. She then presents Jada with the murder weapon, handily preserved in a plastic bag. Stefan wants to know what she’s doing, but Gabi’s not letting her go down for his lunatic of a mother. Vivian bursts in and asks if anyone has seen her gun to their disbelieving stares.

Vivian doesn’t even blink. She was protecting Dimitri, it was self defense and she didn’t do a damn thing wrong. Now she wants her gun back. Stefan says that’s right and that’s why he had a hard time turning Vivian in. Fine, but Jada’s going to talk to Vivian’s parole officer because she violated her parole. Stefan’s ticked at Gabi, then his wife and mother start going at each other, only for Vivian to realize she needs to leave town fast. “Hallelujah!” Gabi shouts.
Vivian says an emotional goodbye. She’s heading back to Alemainia. Don’t worry, no matter what life throws at her, she’ll always rise like a phoenix.
Over in the Titan CEO office, Maggie tosses Vivian’s nameplate in the trash and replaces it with her own. Alex walks in and asks what she’s doing there. He’s just surprised and the two play nice. Alex is glad Vivian’s out of the picture, but then tells her Victor left him in charge of Titan, much to Maggie’s surprise. He points out the “controlling interest” part of the will, which he claims spelled out his wishes. Maggie insists that’s not what he wanted, but Alex insists he’s in control and asks her to please not fight him. He wants the job.
Maggie wants to know if this is payback, but he says no. Victor was his father, and this is what he wanted. Period. Learning the truth warmed her heart, Maggie tells Alex. With Victor gone, she could be there for him. She feels closer than ever to him, but if Victor wanted Alex CEO, he would have made him. Maybe they should be co-CEOs, but he says that wouldn’t work. If she doesn’t give it up willingly, he’ll take it to the board and throw her out by force.

No need. She’ll go, but she’s disappointed she didn’t get through to her. She knew he was a womanizer, grandiose and full of himself, but didn’t think he was so callous not to respond to how she spoke from the heart. “Maggie, I’m gonna need capable people.” But she stops him. Teaming up won’t work this time anymore than last. She puts her nameplate in her purse and leaves.
Leo’s trying to get someone to fluff Dimitri’s pillow in the hospital when Kristen waltzes out of the elevator with a smirk. He cuts her pleasantries off and tells her he knows all about her “diabolical plan to kill my boyfriend.” She insists she didn’t shoot him, though she flashes back to almost doing it. Leo doesn’t believe her, but if he did, who shot Dimitri?
Kristen doesn’t know, but Leo’s in no place to judge. The two then squabble over who screwed over Gwen more and Leo heads off to check on Dimitri.

Back in Dimitri’s room, he wakes to Gwen standing over him, feigning concern for her darling husband. She then calls him a dirt bag and laughs in his face when he acts confused. So she lays it all out for him. He apologizes and calls it “despicable,” at which point Gwen pulls a scalpel out as Dimitri’s heart rate speeds up.
“Gwen, darling, where did you find that?” Gwen toys with him, telling him she has some ideas for her new toy, but she was thinking of performing some magic and making it disappear. Dimitri starts to beg and she goes on about his “magic penis,” lifting his covers with the scalpel. “I wonder how lovable Leo would find you if he and ‘Matthew Perry’ were no longer friends.’ Dimitri calls for help and Leo comes in as she goes in for the slice.
Leo pulls her away. “I can’t let you hurt him.” Leo says it’ll destroy all three of them and Gwen won’t be able to live with herself if she slices Dimitri’s favorite part off. “This is cruel and this is out of character for you,” Leo insists. This isn’t her and it’s breaking Leo’s heart. “You have no heart,” she tells him. He does. He messed up. He’s miserable and hates himself most of the time, but he was so desperate for love, he betrayed her.

Out at the nurse’s station, Gwen comes out to see Kristen and they wonder who the hell shot Dimitri. Jada walks in and tells them what happened. She’ll have to arrest Dimitri. “Well that’s the best news I’ve heard all day!” Gwen exclaims.
Jada goes to leave Dimitri his rights and Kristen spells out what this means. Dimitri’s going off to Statesville and “someone” is going to get his fortune. Gwen should go pay her in-laws a visit and explain to them how poor Dimitri is heading off to prison, so she’ll be in charge of his fortune. It may take some time to persuade the Von Leuschners, but Gwen can do it.
That’s not a bad idea. She’s got nothing left in Salem, not even a friend. “Well, you’ve always got me.” Gwen looks uncertain. “Thanks. I think.” But her time in Salem has been a disaster, so time for greener pastures.

Back in Dimitri’s room, he tells Leo what happened. He did mean not to kill Stefan and Gabi, but then Kristen gave him a gun and he made an “impulse move.” But all is well now! Until Jada walks in and arrests Dimitri for attempted murder.
Over in Marlena’s office, Kate shows up during a break, just as Doc’s happily spreading the Susan news. Kate wants to talk about Philip. He’s leaving with Chloe. Kate’s worried his obsession with her will undo him again, but Marlena reassures her he’s better now. Fine, but Kate was still hoping he’d stay in Salem with her.
In the show’s last few moments, Maggie sadly puts her CEO plate in front of her and Victor’s wedding photo back home. Alex, meanwhile, tells “Dad” in the CEO office that he hopes he’s not mad about Maggie, but he’s sure he was supposed to take this opportunity. He puts his own CEO nameplate on the desk and sits down with a sigh, looking uncertainly around.
Stefan shuts the door after Vivian’s gone, then turns to Gabi who defends what she did. “You may not see it right now, but trust me; I did you a huge favor.” Over at the airport, Vivian heads to her plane and Gwen says an emotional farewell to Salem just as a flight arrives from Los Angeles. “It might be goodbye for now, but you haven’t seen the last of this girl.”

Brady walks in as she walks out and calls Theresa in… who now looks a whole lot like a blonde Gwen. “Cool your jets, I’m coming.” With no accent. (Check out our link at the top of the recap for more on this bizarre moment!)
