‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers will be among many that will miss Bill Hayes (Doug Williams) on ‘Days of Our Lives’ and we’ve loved seeing all of the kind wishes and loving memories that have come out from his fellow castmates and friends, but one really stuck out to us due to our own fun childhood memories.
It was something out of the blue given how so many were talking about their interactions with Bill on and off the set and what he meant to them, but for James it was a different kind of memory he shared to his Instagram account.
“I was a little boy when I heard the Davy Crockett song on the radio. I had no idea the man singing that song would be my friend and colleague for over 40 years. I loved Bill Hayes! I am so glad our life paths ran together for so long. #billhayes ❤️”
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers – The ties that bind us
Bill Hayes’ career had little gems throughout that we may not always know about, and one of those was during his singing days he had a number one song in 1956.
That song was a cover of “The Ballad of Davy Crockett” Fess Parker sang the previous year as he also stared in Disney’s Davy Crockett movies that captured the imagination of many children and adults.
It’s one of those songs that sticks with you no matter what and we sometimes find ourselves humming it out of habit.
But more than that, it’s a cool fact that ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers enjoys because it helps us feel closer to Bill in some way.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers – Full circle
Like James, we didn’t know or forgot Bill sang the song. To us, it was always Fess Parker, but it’s a nice surprise and a version of the song we enjoy.
In the end, that’s what entertainment is about. It allows us to escape from our lives for a short period of time and, if we’re really lucky, give us something we’ll always remember.
Years later, that song still sticks with us and it’s helped make the world feel smaller, like we all got to appreciate another part of Bill’s enormous talent even if we didn’t know it at the time.
After all, memories are a good thing and this is one that’ll make us smile for a long time to come.
