The Days of Our Lives Plot Hole That *Should* Blow Sloan’s Lies Out of the Water

There was something that was bugging us the other day as Days of Our Lives’ EJ bribed Leo to keep his mouth shut with vaguely massive amounts of money. Why didn’t Leo wonder why EJ didn’t want the truth to come out? Because, as far as he knows, EJ is Jude’s dad, too.

That much was apparent on Wednesday’s show as he wondered why Sloan kept mentioning Nicole never getting Jude back, but not EJ. Yeah, we get that Leo may not be thinking that straight with all his drinking, but by the time he and EJ had their conversation, he’d supposedly sobered up. And it’s not like he hasn’t had time to think about the payoff, as he told Sloan when she found him in the park.

As ScottV pointed out over on the Soaps.com Message Boards, Leo “looked flabbergasted at the amount [of money] EJ was offering. But why isn’t he questioning EJs motive? Leo should be asking, ‘Why don’t you want your son and why do you not want Nicole to have her baby? What do you have to gain by keeping this quiet EJ?’”

Are we supposed to believe a con like Leo wouldn’t question what EJ has to gain from this? Is he just too drunk 24/7 to put anything together?

And speaking of getting drunk, Leo just got a massive windfall from EJ. He’s never lacked a taste for the finer things, so why in the world is he still getting drunk in the park?

Sure, maybe Leo would still be wracked with guilt to the point of drinking, but he’s got serious money now. Certainly enough to move past brown bagging it and at least onto the more expensive stuff — in a swanky hotel a step or two up from the Salem Inn. (No offense, Salem Inn.)

Actually, while we’re at it, why is he even still in town? EJ knows Leo’s been letting things slip while drunk and he’s clearly still getting drunk. He opened his mouth to both Eric and Nicole and he’s a loose cannon, money or not.

Over on Twitter/X, Ed Kane Chandler asked the obvious question: “Why wouldn’t EJ tell Leo one of the conditions of their arrangement is that Leo has to leave town?”

But hey, maybe EJ’s right not to worry. All of a sudden one of Salem’s most slippery, cunning characters can’t put two and two together — or even just catch on to the fact that the math is off! Yes, as of his Sloan confrontation on Wednesday, the show’s clearly nudging him that way to the point that we’re sure Leo is the one who’s going to blow this up once he realizes he told the wrong person about the baby. (Also, he’s not going to get to be one of the wealthiest citizens in Salem, so there’s going to be a reason for EJ to take his money back.)

But that doesn’t change the fact that the Leo math just isn’t mathing. What do you think? Is he going to figure out and set things right, or will someone else blow up Sloan’s lies first?
