Things have taken an interesting turn in Salem now that Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) is taking more of a hands on approach to her office of mayor, including telling the police chief who he can and can’t investigate.
While she’s not wrong per se to come down on Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) for wanting to investigate Li Shin (Remington Hoffman)’s murder, he had a point where they didn’t exhaust every possibility.
While not every police force can look into individual crimes like that, it is warranted and the fact Paulina put her own actions in her personal life off limits sets a curious pattern.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Do as I say, not as I do
The whole mess with Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) and Chanel DuPree (Raven Bowens) came about because Paulina paid off the police in England to bury the case and let her daughter go free.
There was no investigation, no trial, and no justice I a courtroom, and that’s why Sloan was justified in going after them so hard legally until the writers deemed it ran its course.
And while Sloan’s brother went overboard, would he have had they seen a courtroom and allowed the evidence to be heard and decided on by a judge?
Paulina took that away from Sloan and her brother, and they’re expected to live with it. And when Rafe pleaded with her on those grounds, she slammed the door on him and threatened to fire him for crossing a line.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Not make Paulina a strong female character
For ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers, we’re wondering what the writers are trying to do here. Most likely, they’re trying to make Paulina into a strong female character by making her harder edged.
But here’s the thing, she was already a strong female character. She was written perfectly and showed her inner strength time and time again and grew following some bad decisions.
Of course, they could be setting her up for a big fall from grace by letting her pride and growing hypocrisy take over.
That would be an interesting storyline and way to go about it since she does seem to be running things more like a businesswoman running her empire, so there is some room to work there.
Since she’s coming across more like a dictator or tyrant more interested in results than justice, it’ll be interesting to see what they writers are going for her.
